Executive Dashboard Builder for Restaurants
The owner asked this:«I want a dashboard with sales for my two locations, food cost and the five metrics I review every Monday.»
① Block A · the sheet, with each figure's owner and lag
A number with no formula, no source, no frequency and no owner does not enter the board.
| ★ | Indicator | Formula | Source (and lag) | Frequency | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ★ | Sales vs break-even | Net sales ÷ month's break-even | POS close, same day | Weekly | Owner |
| ★ | Period food cost | Consumption ÷ net sales | Inventory + purchases, 5 days | Monthly | Chef |
| ★ | Prime cost | (Food cost + labor cost) ÷ sales | POS + payroll, 8 days | Monthly | Manager |
| ★ | Projected cash | Balance + receivables − committed payments | Bank + payables | Weekly | Owner |
| Contribution margin by sales channel | (Sales − variable cost) for dining room, delivery and takeaway | POS by channel | Monthly | Manager | |
| Average ticket | Sales ÷ covers | POS, same day | Weekly | Floor manager |
SUPUESTO: the house has declared no target food cost, so the amber threshold is set at the median of the restaurant's own last 12 weeks and not at an industry reference. If the house's real target were 3 points lower, half the green months turn amber and the monthly review changes subject.
Verdict on what gets looked at first on Monday: projected cash. A high food-cost month can be corrected; a week with no cash closes the location.
② Block B · the dashboard.html file, zone by zone
Front page, 4 traffic-light cards — each with the figure, the target and the gap in money, not only as a percentage:
| Card | This month | Gap against target | Light |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales vs break-even | 36.8 M COP | −1.7 M COP to cover the month | 🟡 |
| Food cost | 31.4% | +0.9 pts over the 12-week median | 🟡 |
| Prime cost | 56.2% | inside its own range | 🟢 |
| Cash at 30 days | 9.4 M COP | covers payroll and rent | 🟢 |
Below it, the full sheet in rows ordered by urgency and the 6-month trend per indicator. At the bottom, the THIS MONTH'S DATA zone: six labelled boxes where the manager pastes the close in under 5 min and the board repaints itself. The file opens from the desktop, with no connection and no external libraries.
What the board does NOT put on the front page: followers and reviews. Not because they do not matter — because they cannot be fixed on Monday.
The full example has 1 more part(s): you see them inside the library, with your account.
