The topic, in detail
What sits behind this episode
A restaurant partnership is almost always formed at the most optimistic moment and with the poorest documentation. Contributions nobody wrote down, roles that are assumed, and a split that seemed obvious. It all works until the first disagreement, and then there is nothing to refer back to.
What prevents conflict is not trust, it is the written agreement: who contributes what, who decides what, how the work of the operating partner is valued against the one who only put in capital, and what happens if someone wants out. All four can be answered in an afternoon and save years.
The operating partner and the investing partner have different and legitimate interests. The first wants salary and stability; the second, return. If that difference is not named from the start, every cash decision becomes an argument about who is contributing more.

The mentor
A mentor who has operated restaurants, not a desk theorist
Your mentoring session is directly with Diego F Parra: engineer and consultant with more than 20 years creating, rescuing and growing restaurants, dark kitchens and food businesses across four continents. He has stood on the owner's side — opening, operating, correcting and selling — which is why the session goes straight to the point: what is failing in your business model and what to do first.
He created the MASTERESTAURANT methodology, applied by more than 8.400 restaurants in 43 countries, and wrote 'From Slave to Owner' (TOP 5 on Amazon) and 'Triunfar o Morir en el Intento'. In the session, that methodology is applied to YOUR case: your numbers, your concept, your team and your market.
His bilingual community of owners, chefs and operators exceeds 65M views per year as @masterestaurant. See his full track record in the professional profile of Diego F Parra.

Mentoring with its own method, not generic advice
Every session is structured with the Restaurant Model Canvas and MASTERESTAURANT engineering: business model, value proposition, customer experience, menu and costs, Prime Cost, operations and team. It is not a motivational talk: it is an organized diagnosis of your restaurant and a prioritized action plan you can execute immediately — plus, if your case requires it, the route to the right program or service in the ecosystem.

FAQ
FAQ about this episode
What should partners in a restaurant put in writing?
Who contributes what, who decides what, how the operating partner is paid versus the one who only put in capital, and what happens if someone wants to leave.
Why do restaurant partners fall out?
Usually because the operating and investing partners have different interests that nobody named at the start. One wants salary and stability; the other, return.
When should that agreement be made?
At the start, in the optimistic moment. After the first disagreement you are no longer negotiating an agreement, you are negotiating a position.
