Why themed restaurant projects across Paraguay hire him

In recent years themed and concept restaurants have become one of the fastest-growing categories: customers look for memorable experiences and pay to live them. The opportunity is real — and so is the risk of investing in decor and ambiance without a business model that guarantees profitability.

This service exists to close that gap: 1-on-1 tailor-made consulting, workshops, bootcamps and private advisory with the MASTERESTAURANT methodology and its TOOLKIT, applied in 8,400+ restaurants across 43 countries. You bring the concept; we bring the system that makes it profitable, standardized and scalable.

How does themed restaurant consulting work in Paraguay?

The work starts with the model, not the decor: a strategic diagnosis in Paraguay shows where the project stands and where the money goes, then the business is designed to hold the concept once the novelty passes.

The goal is a concept that can be repeated without losing quality or margin. To get there, the engagement works on concept, brand and storytelling written for the dining room, menu engineering, Prime Cost, standardization you can audit, and processes and teams that run without the owner in the room. Once the model is proven, it sets the order of expansion into new locations, licenses or franchises. The work is confidential and runs on site or virtually, in English or Spanish. As a starting point, this page gathers four verified reference figures from sources such as SENATUR Paraguay and Secretaría Nacional de Turismo.

What do the numbers say about the market for a themed restaurant in Paraguay?

+91.24% — record growth in international tourist arrivals to Paraguay in 2025, according to SENATUR Paraguay. Reference figures describe the setting a concept competes in; they do not say whether a themed experience will still leave a margin after opening.

For a themed restaurant, the data informs one concrete decision: how much can go into ambiance before the model stops working. Other reference points cited on this page: 3,657,194 (total visitors, tourists and excursionists in 2025, SENATUR Paraguay); 2,233,742 (international visitors in 2024, +22%, SENATUR Paraguay); 2,252,532 (international visitors January-September 2025, Secretaría Nacional de Turismo). In Paraguay, each figure is read alongside average check, menu engineering and Prime Cost before spending on decor, because novelty brings the first visit and margin decides whether there is a second one.

The local market

What to understand about the All Paraguay market before opening

A thematic or experiential restaurant requires far more than decorative investment to achieve sustainable profitability. I've audited hundreds of projects where owners invested millions in design, carpentry, and atmosphere but neglected what sustains the business: operational model, menu engineering, real costs, table turnover, and guest experience without contradictions. Theme certainly attracts in the first months, but repeat visits depend on consistency between what you promise (experience) and what you deliver (service, cuisine, ambiance, reliability). In Paraguay, where gastronomic entertainment grows and competition for travelers and local diners is real, that gap between beautiful concept and profitable business is the primary reason for failure.

The service transforms that thematic idea into an administrable gastronomic business: starting from your concept, we develop the differentiation strategy together, clear value proposition, customer journey from first contact through repeat visit, experience design aligned with space architecture, menu engineering with prime cost and average check control, operational processes and service standards, realistic financial model with projections, and the metrics that will tell you each week if the business is moving in the right direction. We use the Restaurant Canvas—the same methodology applied across 43 countries—adapted 100% to your local market, budget, and vision. No templates: every project responds to your reality.

My authority is operational, not aesthetic: C-Suite consultant with exclusive hospitality expertise over two decades, proven methodology across 8,400+ restaurants and gastronomic groups in 43 countries, recognized author, and architect of proprietary tools that measure what matters—unit economics, success factors by concept and location, expansion models for new locations, licensing, and franchising. That experience drastically reduces your project risk because it prevents the most frequent mistakes—misallocated investment, menu disconnected from costs, experience and storytelling misaligned, fragile operations—before they accumulate losses.

The return is concrete: a thematic restaurant designed as a system—where concept, menu, service, ambiance, and numbers work together—genuinely differentiates in the market, generates repeat visits and higher average check, reduces waste and losses through operational order, scales methodically (new locations, licensing, or franchising without brand collapse), attracts investors because the model is clear and proven, and frees the founder from daily operations because processes are documented and the team leads by criteria, not intuition.

Why concepts work across Paraguay

Paraguay concentrates its gastronomic entertainment offerings in Asunción and nearby areas of influence, with growth in modern shopping centers and internal tourism resorts. The local audience values authentic experiences rooted in cultural identity—Paraguayan cuisine has clear DNA: yerba mate, chipa, sopa paraguaya, grilled beef—while regional travelers (from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay) seek differentiated experience, not generic imitation. Business travel and family celebrations are strong consumption moments. What frequently fails is confusing theme with business: investing in imported themes that don't resonate with local culture, or designing an experience so costly to operate that prime cost erodes profitability. A thematic restaurant succeeds in Paraguay when it respects the local market, ingredient availability, the type of guest in that zone, and when they actually dine.

The real opportunity lies in concepts that integrate local identity, memorable experience, and sound financial model. Concrete risks: decorations that become dated (today's overly literal themes lose relevance quickly), incoherent experiences where theme doesn't justify pricing, excessive operating costs from complex architecture or unsustainable service, and founder dependence instead of a capable team. The Paraguayan diner—local or regional—expects coherence: if you promise premium experience, food must match that level; if ambiance is playful, service must sustain it without feeling amateur. Best results occur when theme becomes a narrative that shapes design, menu, and interaction decisions, not a surface-level decoration.

The themed consultant

Twenty years of real operations, not theory

There are consultants who have read about restaurants and consultants who have stood inside one at nine on a Friday night. Diego F Parra is the second kind: engineer and C-Suite consultant with two decades creating, rescuing and expanding restaurants, franchises, dark kitchens and HORECA and hospitality groups across four continents, with payrolls signed, leases negotiated and expansions closed in operations worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

That experience was distilled into the MASTERESTAURANT® methodology, applied today by 8,400+ restaurants across 43 countries, and into its TOOLKIT: MTIE, Gastronomic Radar, Standard Recipe Generator, Tech Sheets and KPI Dashboard. Tools, not slides.

The picture is completed by 3 ISBN-registered books, including «De esclavo a dueño», the industry's leading podcast, the largest bilingual community of owners, chefs and operations directors in the region (65M+ views per year as @masterestaurant) and a place among the top Latino restaurant operations experts globally. Themed restaurant consulting with its own doctrine, not generic recipes

Themed restaurant consulting is not improvised. Every engagement is built on the Restaurant Model Canvas and real industry data — profitability, Prime Cost, cost structure, customer experience and expansion — applied to the specific business model of a themed restaurant. The goal is not a venue for the opening-night photo, but a food business that protects the concept, generates profit and can scale to new locations, licenses or franchises when the model is ready. That is why the work is organized on four fronts —diagnosis and business model; concept, menu and themed experience; structure, costs and operation; expansion, franchise and new locations— so the concept still holds up when it is no longer new.

Diego F. Parra, International consultant, expert in creating, scaling and improving restaurants, HORECA and hospitality

“A themed restaurant fails because of its business model, not its decoration; and succeeds when theme is the wrapper around an operational and financial system that generates margin and scales. I've seen visually spectacular concepts collapse from out-of-control prime cost, and modest-looking but operationally relentless businesses triple in size within five years.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much of the experience should absorb food margin? If I invest so much in atmosphere, will guests accept higher menu prices?

Menu engineering enters here: you design a catalog where signature plates (linked to theme) carry higher margins because experience justifies price, while rotation-driving items generate volume. The trick isn't a wholly expensive menu but coherence: if you promise immersive experience, certain items must reflect it. I've seen businesses reduce prices thinking ambiance didn't permit them, and gained volume but lost terminal margin. The real question is: who is my guest and how much do they spend on entertainment per occasion? That defines your pricing architecture, not decoration.

How do I keep guests coming back? The novelty of theme wears off after three or four visits.

Repeat visits come from consistent experience more than decoration. We design the customer journey so each visit has a point of difference: events, rotating menu, surprise moments in service, frequent-guest programs. What no one sees also matters: whether service stays equally good (or poor), or whether your team is trained in the place's narrative. For expansion to new locations, you need concept scalability without identity loss—that's documentation and leadership work, not more set design investment.

What does a project actually receive?

A complete business model for the themed restaurant —concept, value proposition, menu, experience, costs and operation—built from a strategic diagnosis, plus support through implementation and expansion.

Is my idea protected?

Yes. An NDA is signed and the concept, the brand and the intellectual property remain entirely the client's during and after the work. Limited spots worldwide exist so that each project gets real focus.

Is this a course, a mentorship or a consultancy?

A consultancy, in phases: diagnosis, model design, implementation and support during operation and expansion. Duration depends on scope; what does not change is that there is method and not a one-off session.

What investment should be budgeted?

From USD $35K to USD $250K for the 1-on-1 consulting, depending on the scope of the project and the concept. Restaurant groups and chains have private programs quoted on their own.

Openings only, or turnarounds too?

Both. Creation from scratch with concept, business model and opening; and growth of themed restaurants already running that need margin, standardization and a path to new locations or franchise.
